The Ministry of Defense is conducting a special campaign 2.0 on Swachhta in its offices in New Delhi and all field offices and field units from 2 October 2022. It started with a preparatory phase from 14 to 30 September 2022, during which targets were identified for the campaign period. This year, special emphasis is placed on field/outstation offices. The intention of the campaign is to achieve space management and improve the working experience in offices under the Ministry. Offices responsible for public interface and service delivery are prioritized during this campaign.
Since the start of the special campaign, the Ministry of Defense has organized cleanliness drives at 4,569 locations across the country. The department also disposed of 134 pending references from Members of Parliament, 30 pending references from various state governments, 13 pending references from the PMO and 445 pending public complaints. So far, 22,350 physical files have also been reviewed and 9,954 physical files have been discarded. So far, the scrap sales revenue has been Rs 6,05,005 and 7,475 sq.ft has also been effectively released.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Swachh Bharat Mission was launched in 2014 to bring about a change in people’s behavior and as a fitting tribute to the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi, who advocated cleanliness as a way of life. Later, in 2021, a special campaign was launched between ministries and departments on clearance of backlogs and cleanliness. After the success of the Special Campaign last year, it has been decided to organize the Special Campaign 2.0 on Swachhta in Central Government Ministries/Departments, Attached/Subordinate Authorities from 2nd October to 31st October 2022.
