Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh held bilateral talks with Tanzanian Minister of Defense and National Services Dr. Stergomena Lawrence Tax in New Delhi on August 26, 2022. During the meeting, a wide range of issues related to bilateral, regional and defense industrial cooperation were discussed. The two ministers reviewed existing military-to-military activities and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in all areas with a focus on defense industry cooperation.
The two ministers agreed to form a working group to prepare a five-year future plan to strengthen defense cooperation between the two countries and to hold the next Joint Defense Cooperation meeting in Tanzania soon. The Raksha Mantri also invited his Tanzanian counterpart to the India-Africa Defense Dialogue and DefExpo to be held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat between October 18 and 22, 2022.
Earlier in the day, Tanzania’s Minister of Defense and National Services visited the National War Memorial and paid tribute to fallen heroes by laying wreaths at the monument. She was given a Ceremonial Guard of Honor before her bilateral meeting with Shri Rajnath Singh. Dr Tax will visit Wargaming Development Center and Information Fusion Center – Indian Ocean region before flying to Hyderabad to interact with Indian Defense Industries.
