Childcare fundraising campaigns aim to keep mothers on track for learning

Only about half of US public universities offer bachelor’s degrees in on-site child care – and few private institutions do, according to a 2021 study by Child Trends, a nonprofit child research organization in Bethesda, Maryland. Where available, university child care centers are often expensive and have waiting lists of months to years. However, women report that paid parental leave and adequate child care are important factors in applying and staying in the workplace.

Epidemic crowdfunding

The COVID-19 epidemic has exacerbated existing barriers to women’s employment. Many mothers take on greater responsibility for caring for their children – and the support became unreliable3.
