In a bold declaration just ahead of the national elections, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, accompanied by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, minced no words as he accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of being a haven for corruption. Speaking at a joint press conference, Yadav asserted that the BJP would face defeat from Ghaziabad to Ghazipur, with the Pichde-Dalits-Alpasankhyaks (backward classes, Dalits, and minorities) alliance emerging victorious.
Highlighting the disillusionment among farmers due to unfulfilled promises, Yadav emphasized the INDIA alliance as the beacon of hope in the upcoming elections. He echoed Gandhi’s vision of eradicating poverty through manifesto commitments, particularly focusing on guaranteeing minimum support prices (MSP) for farmers to uplift their income and alleviate poverty.
Yadav didn’t mince words in his criticism of the BJP, alleging that it has transformed into a “warehouse of corruption,” citing the electoral bond controversy and the party’s alleged association with corrupt individuals.
Echoing Yadav’s sentiments, Rahul Gandhi took aim at the BJP and its ideological mentor RSS, accusing them of undermining democracy and failing to address pressing issues such as unemployment and poverty. While refraining from predicting seat numbers, Gandhi expressed confidence in the strengthening of the opposition alliance across states, particularly highlighting the strong partnership in Uttar Pradesh.
Akhilesh Yadav stands as a prominent figure in the INDIA alliance, a coalition formed in 2023 to challenge the dominance of the BJP in the ongoing elections. With leaders like Mamata Banerjee, MK Stalin, Lalu Prasad Yadav, and Uddhav Thackeray also part of this alliance, the stage is set for a high-stakes battle for power in the political landscape of India.
