After completing his early education in Rameswaram, he obtained a degree in physics from St. Joseph’s College, Tiruchirappalli, and later graduated in aerospace engineering from the Madras Institute of Technology.

APJ Abdul Kalam’s association with India’s space program began in the 1960s when he joined the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). He played a crucial role in the development of India’s first satellite launch vehicle, SLV-3, which successfully launched the Rohini satellite into orbit in 1980.
