Representatives of the United States, Australia, Canada, Chile, Japan, the Republic of Korea and New Zealand said in a joint statement that they were “deeply concerned” about the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.

“Reaffirming the importance of international order based on the principles that support the Asia-Pacific region open, flexible, strong and peaceful, we urge Russia to immediately stop using force and withdraw completely and unconditionally all its troops from Ukraine,” the nations said.

Delegates from Canada, New Zealand, Japan and Australia joined the American people, led by US Trade Representative Katherine Tai, at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit on Saturday.

The announcement came as Russian Economic Minister Maxim Reshetnikov made his remarks at the opening of a two-day summit of the 21 economic bloc.Delegates from the five host countries returned to the meeting after Reshetnikov had finished speaking, a Thai official said.
