In a recent communication to the airline’s staff, Air India‘s Chief, Campbell Wilson, underscored the utmost importance of safety in aviation operations. He emphasized that safety standards must not be compromised, and there would be robust consequences for any instances of “tardiness and transgression.”
Wilson referred to recent actions taken by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) against two Air India staff members due to lapses in conducting safety audits. He stated that Air India acknowledges and accepts the regulator’s findings, making it clear that practices that were once considered acceptable are no longer tolerated.
Safety remains the highest priority for Air India, as reiterated by the CEO. The airline is committed to investing heavily in enhancing safety standards through improved processes, systems, and personnel training. Additionally, Wilson stressed the importance of instilling a culture of safety and diligence at all levels within the organization.
This message comes after the DGCA’s suspension of Air India’s Flight Safety Chief, Rajeev Gupta, for one month due to identified lapses. The airline’s leadership is evidently committed to upholding and enhancing safety measures in line with regulatory requirements.
