Bharatanatyam dancer Shobana contracts Omicron

Mumbai: Shobana Chandrakumar Pillai, the 51-years-old Bharatanatyam dancer and actor, also known as Shobana, shared with her followers on Instagram that she contracted Omicron, the highly transmissible variant of the coronavirus, and was experiencing joint pains and cold.

“I have contracted Omicron despite taking precautions. My symptoms were joint pains, chills and a scratchy throat which was followed by a slightly sore throat – This was only on the first day! And every day my symptoms reduce greatly,” the actor wrote.

She further added that she is glad to have taken both the doses of the Coronavirus vaccine and appealed to everyone to do the same to remain safe. “I hope and pray that this variant marks the end of the pandemic,” she added.

Meanwhile, total active covid cases across India stands at 7,23,619, which is a rise of 1,79,723 cases and 146 death in the last 24 hours.
