Health Focus: Under Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission Rs. 404 crore to upgrade medical infrastructure in Tamil Nadu

Minister of Health and Family Welfare Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya on a two-day trip to Tamilnadu and Puducherry, visited the Tamilnadu Multi Super Specialty Hospital in Chennai this morning. She has seen the Robotic Surgery Facility and the Early Pregnancy Screening Center at Super Specialty Hospital. Drs. Mansukh Mandaviya also laid the foundation stone ofthe CGHS Wellness Center and Lab in Avadi. In addition, he consulted with trauma care patients and those with severe sports injuries who are being treated with advanced technology-based surgery and biopharma treatment at Multi Super Specialty Hospital. Shri M. Subramanian, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Tamilnadu Government, Shri P. Senthil kumar, Secretary General, Health and Family Welfare, Tamilnadu Government and senior officials participated in the event.

Speaking at the meeting, Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya said Tamilnadu Government Hospital Multi Super Specialty Hospital is the only center with 2 surgeons and congratulates the country on achieving the goal set for MMR and IMR ahead of other provinces. To cover 1.58 crore families in Tamilnadu, under Ayushman Bharat Yojana, 75 lakh people received benefits, he added. Noting that the situation with the COVID vaccine in the southern province has reached 11 crore 26 lakhs and 94% for the first and 82% for the second dose, the Minister said it was commendable.

Commenting on Nikshay Mitr Abhiyan’s TB Patient / Village Adoption ’program, he said there are about 50,000 TB patients in Tamil Nadu. However, he urged people to extend their hand to the program as only 5% had given their permission, and 35% had not yet received it. “Only with your support, as in COVID, can we together overcome this barrier to national development,” he stressed.

Drs. Mansukh Mandaviya expressed delight at the 17 state states recording zero Malaria and lymphatic filarisis completely eradicated in Tamilnadu. While this is an encouraging development, the Minister of Health has instructed health officials to remain vigilant and continue to take appropriate measures to eradicate malaria, Chikungunia and Dengue. “The strong leadership of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is not just a vision but full of compassion. We are committed to freeing the nation from Malaria by 2030. ”

Announcing that the Central Government will soon launch the ‘One Nation, One Dialysis’ program, under the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Program, Dr.He added that under the Ayushman Bharat -Health and Wellness Centress program, Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness (as of June 2022) is currently operating in the province against the target of 9135 Health and Wellness Centers by December, 2022. To date, a total of 542.07 lakh tests (up to March 2022) have been performed at these centers for Hypertension, Diabetes, General Cancer etc., he added. Drs. Mandaviya announced, “The Central Government has set aside more than Rs. 2600 million Tamilnadu health facilities under the National Health Mission and Rs 404 crore to upgrade the medical infrastructure under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission.
