The first official standard for a grassroots innovation has been set up developed by Shri Mansukh Bhai Prajapati

National Innovation Foundation (NIF) – India, an independent body of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, put this idea into the Innovations Scholars In-residence Program held at RashtrapatiBhawan. BIS took note of this new technology and then worked with NIF to develop a new Indian Standard – IS 17693: 2022 ‘Non-electric cooling cabinet made of clay’. The first official level of innovation at the grassroots level has been established by the Mitticool clay cooling cabinet built by Shri Mansukh Bhai Prajapati, of Wankaner, Gujarat. The standard set by the Bureau of India Standards is required after a certain phase of promotion and entry into cross-border markets.

The standard contributes to the BIS ‘s efforts to achieve 6 of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely 1 (No poverty), 2 (Zero hunger), 5 (Gender equality), 7 (Affordable and clean energy), 9 (Industry, innovation, and infrastructure), and 12 (Responsible use and production). IS 17693: Non-Electrical Cooling Cabinet is the first standard based on the new invention – ‘Mitticool Refrigerator’. The standard specifies the requirements for the construction and operation of a ceramic refrigeration cooling cabinet that operates on a vapor cooling system. These cabinets can be used to store perishable food without the need for electricity. It provides natural cold food to stay fresh without compromising your quality.

The impact of Mitticool’s ‘Refrigerator’ is already strong, and ready to grow by reaching this historic step of setting standards. It already plays a key role in reviving the pottery culture, tradition, and heritage; connecting people back to the roots in better, healthier ways; to promote sustainable use; uplifting the economically poor community; working for a green and cool world, economic development and job creation; and to contribute to the empowerment and empowerment of rural women financially. These achievements will receive new promotions.

The standard can help lower-level founders to march hand in hand with innovations in the legal field. Some of the benefits that are expected to be found in the new establishment are – simplification of trade and commerce, process improvement and efficiency, guidance on consistent performance and quality, facilitating comparisons of products and services, promoting further technological development and more.
