Space Focus: Venus rose like the morning star: Picture of Astronomy Day

On the 27th of May Venus rose like the morning star, close to the waning moon in the morning sky already filled with planets. It was close to the sky until the setting of the Moon and the second and third light beams were enjoyed by observers around the world. But if you look at the areas along the track crossing southeast Asia and the Indian Ocean the Moon actually passed before Venus in action. In this animated gift 75% of the light disc of Venus approaches and begins to disappear after half-southwest full moon illuminated by the sun.

 The telescopic frames used to build it were taken from Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean at about 4:50 am local time, with the Moon and Venus very close to the eastern horizon. At that time Venus was more than 180 million miles [180 million km] from Reunion Island, compared with a distance of about 400,000 miles [400,000 km] or more. About 50 minutes later Venus appeared after the Moon.
