Sports Focus: The women’s test should be played for five days, Barclay of the ICC said

International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman Greg Barclay said the women’s test matches should be played for five days, but raised doubts about the long-term format of women’s cricket. The women’s test matches are played for four days compared to the five men’s matches, and the five test matches played from 2017 all ended in a draw.

England captain Heather Knight has backed five tests a day and England skipper Kate Cross said female cricketers were healthy enough to meet the demands of long games after the January Ashes match. “Most people would say it takes five days,” Barclay said. “If they are going to play it, my personal opinion is that they should have five days to play it.”

Countries that have played a women’s test in the last five years are England, Australia and India. Barclay added that short forms of cricket are “the way of the future” in the game, saying one-day games and Twenty20 cricket are very popular with fans. That’s where broadcasters put their services, ”said Barclay. “She is the one who draws the money.

“To play cricket you have to have frames at home. They really aren’t in any country right now. I don’t really see women’s cricket improving at any speed.” That does not mean any countries. those who choose to play test cricket cannot do so. But I don’t see it as part of a truly progressive country. “In a Twitter message, former broadcaster Isabelle Westbury said Barclay’s comments were” disappointing. “England will host South Africa. -2014.
