Nepal says a missing plane carrying 22 people has crashed

Nepali militants said on Monday they had recovered the wreckage of a plane carrying 22 people during a thunderstorm on Sunday.”Search troops have found the site of the plane crash,” military spokesman Narayan Silwal said on Twitter, posting a picture of debris with the plane’s tail number clearly visible and parts of the plane visible scattered on the side of the mountain.

Four Indians, two Germans and 16 Nepalese boarded a plane, the De Havilland Canada DHC-6-300 Twin Otter operated by private company Tara Air, according to the airline and government officials.The plane was flying for 20 minutes before losing contact with the control tower.It had moved from the tourist town of Pokhara, 125 miles (80 miles) west of the capital, Kathmandu, and headed for Jomsom, about 50 miles (50 miles) northwest of Pokhara, a popular destination of tourists and tourist destinations. Flightradar24 said the aircraft, with registration number 9N-AET, first flew in April 1979.
