More than 200 cases have been confirmed or suspected of  a monkeypox

Trivitron Healthcare, a medical device company based in Chennai, said it had developed a real-time RT-PCR-based kit to detect the hermypox virus. A four-color kit based on fluorescence, the company said, could distinguish a smallpox from a single-response tube format. Tests take about an hour to detect the virus the company said.In a statement released Friday, Trivitron Healthcare said both dry swabs and soaps placed on VTM (Viral Transport Media) could be used. “The WHO-recommended model for verification of the monkeypox laboratory is the wound material on the skin, consisting of swabs of lesion surface and / or exudate, a roof from more than one wound, or a layer of wounds,” the statement said.

More than 200 confirmed or suspected cases of monkeys – a common disease found in forested areas of west and central Africa – have been reported from 20 countries, including those in Europe, the Middle East and North America, the World Health Organization said on Friday. At a technology conference reported by Reuters news agency, the WHO also said it feared the spread of the virus in the community. Sylvie Briand, WHO’s director of global infectious disease risk management, said the disease was ‘diagnosed’ at the moment if appropriate action was taken.

WHO officials also say that there is no need to vaccinate against a large number of monocytes at this time, but vaccination is only available to those who are in close contact with people with the virus.Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has said no cases of monopoly have been reported in India so far. However, the government is prepared to make that possible, especially as crime seems to be increasing worldwide.

ICMR scientist DrAparna Mukherjee said people with a history of visits to monkey-infested countries and those showing symptoms such as fever and body aches should be screened.Asking people not to panic, he also said people should ‘look for unusual symptoms, such as high fever, multiple lymphadenopathies, large lymph nodes, body aches, rash, etc.’
