Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav Addresses BRICS Climate Change Conference

Minister for Environment, Forestry and Climate Change, Shri. Bhupender Yadav participated in the BRICS High Level Summit held on 13 May 2022. Speaking at a BRICS summit on climate change, the minister highlighted the importance of a forum for tackling climate change together, to explore ways to accelerate climate change. carbon and strong transformation, as well as achieving recovery and sustainable development.

The BRICS High Level Conference was chaired by H.E. Mr. Huang Runqiu, Minister of Environment and Environment in the People’s Republic of China and was visited by the Minister of Environment for BRICS countries including Brazil, Russia, India and South Africa.

The Minister of Union, in his address, emphasized India’s commitment to strong climate action, which includes promoting sustainable livelihoods based on sustainable use and waste minimization. The Environment Minister informed the BRICS Minister that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi how India today is leading by example by taking concrete steps in the field of renewable energy, sustainable livelihoods, the construction of carbon dioxide through additional forest and tree cover. , switching to sustainable transportation, electronic travel, encouraging the private sector to implement climate obligations, etc.

Shri Yadav mentioned how India has continued to end economic growth in greenhouse gas emissions. Shri Yadav noted that the long-awaited implementation of climate change measures by developing countries depends on motivated and adequate funding of climate change, technology transfer, and other implementation support, as mandated by the UNFCCC and the Paris Agreement. He expressed confidence in climate financing in line with the Glasgow resolution and the Climate Funding Plan released by the Presidency of COP 26.

BRICS Environment Ministers have expressed their commitment to strengthening cooperation on climate change, and expanding and deepening collaborative content. In addition, countries have agreed to trade policy and cooperation on environmental issues and climate change. A Joint Statement was also released.
