Delhi may experience heat wave in from Friday: Indian Meteorological Department

High temperatures in Delhi may move around the 40-degree mark on Wednesday and begin to rise later as humid east winds blow the western part of the region hot and dry. A new heat wave has been predicted in Delhi since Sunday, but northeast winds in the national capital under the influence of Cyclone Asani have protected the city from it. The heat wave is likely to start on Friday, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

Cyclone Asani

“East winds present in the region under the influence of Cyclone Asani keep mercury testing. Although there will be no rise in temperatures in Delhi in the next few days, rising humidity could cause unrest,” he said.

Mahesh Palawat, Deputy President (Meteorology and Climate Change), Skymet, an independent weather forecasting agency.”Without the east wind, temperatures would have risen to 46-47 degrees Celsius,” he said.

Several consecutive rains, thunderstorms, and strong winds gave a break from the intense heat last week. Delhi saw a hot and dry March, measuring the rain compared to the average 15.9 mm. It received 0.3 mm of rain in April compared to the monthly average of 12.2 mm. The heat wave at the end of the month caused the mercury to rise to 46 and 47 degrees Celsius in several parts of Delhi.
