July 1, 2024 – The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the results for the NEET UG 2024 retest, held for 1,563 candidates following issues of “grace marks” and a “paper leak.” Students can check their scores on the NTA’s official website, exams.nta.ac.in/NEET/.
The retest, conducted on June 23, was offered to candidates who were previously awarded grace marks due to a ‘loss of time’ during the initial exam. The Supreme Court later scrapped these marks, allowing candidates to either opt for a retest or retain their original scores without the grace marks.
Steps to Download NEET UG 2024 Scorecard:
•Visit the Official Website: Go to exams.nta.ac.in/NEET.
•Access Results Tab: Click on the ‘NEET UG re-exam results 2024’ link on the homepage.
•Enter Login Credentials: Provide Application Number, Date of Birth, and Security PIN.
•View Scorecard: A new window will display the scorecard.
•Download and Save: Download the scorecard and save it.
•Print Scorecard: Print a copy for future reference.
Candidates should ensure their scorecards include their photo and barcode, re-downloading if necessary. Out of the 1,563 candidates, only 813 took the retest, while 48% opted to retain their original scores without grace marks.
In particular, at Haryana’s Jhajjar centre, which had come under scrutiny due to several top rankers, 287 out of 494 candidates, or about 58%, appeared for the re-exam.
Following the release of retest results, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will begin the counselling process, likely starting on July 6.
NEET UG 2024 Controversy
The NEET UG exam 2024, held on May 5, saw over 24 lakh candidates. Results were initially declared on June 4, with 67 students achieving perfect scores of 720. However, suspicions arose after six of these top scorers were from Haryana’s Jhajjar centre, prompting an investigation into possible irregularities.
The Ministry of Education has handed the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a comprehensive probe into alleged paper leaks and other irregularities. In addition, the CBI recently conducted searches at seven locations in Gujarat, spanning the districts of Anand, Kheda, Ahmedabad, and Godhra.
As the investigation continues, the NTA and other authorities aim to ensure the integrity and fairness of the NEET UG examination process.
