The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) is set to convene a ‘Kisan Mazdoor Mahapanchayat‘ at Delhi’s historic Ramlila Maidan, marking a significant escalation in their protest against the central government’s policies. Despite stringent conditions imposed by the Delhi Police, including limiting the gathering to 5,000 participants and barring tractor trolleys near the venue, the farmers’ umbrella body remains resolute in its plans.
Anticipating a turnout of over 50,000 farmers from Punjab, the SKM aims to deliver a message of unity and peaceful dissent against the contentious agricultural laws. However, the heavy deployment of paramilitary personnel at Delhi’s borders underscores the government’s efforts to deter the ongoing protest.

Despite challenges and police warnings, the farmers remain undeterred, with scores from Punjab and western Uttar Pradesh mobilizing for the mahapanchayat. BKU leader Rakesh Tikait has condemned alleged attempts to obstruct farmers’ participation and urged officials to refrain from such actions.
