Light Rainfall in Delhi, Thunderstorms Predicted Across North India

Delhi and its adjoining National Capital Region (NCR) experienced light rainfall on Sunday morning, with the minimum temperature settling at 10 degrees Celsius. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts a generally cloudy sky with intermittent light rain showers and gusty winds throughout the day in the national capital.

The maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to reach around 19 degrees Celsius, according to the weather department. Saturday saw a thick layer of fog shrouding the city in the morning, causing delays for several trains heading towards Delhi. However, the weather cleared up later in the day, with sunny conditions prevailing.

In addition to Delhi, the IMD has issued forecasts for thunderstorms and lightning in various regions, including Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, West Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. The bulletin also warns of gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 mph over Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh.

Meanwhile, an orange alert has been issued for snowfall in Himachal Pradesh on February 4 and 5. The IMD predicts light to moderate snowfall in most areas and heavy snowfall in isolated regions of the mid and high hills of the state. Lower areas may experience thunderstorms, lightning, and hailstorms, with wet weather expected to persist until February 6.

Earlier snowfall in the state, occurring on January 31 and February 1, led to the closure of 485 roads, including four national highways. Authorities are advising caution and preparedness for adverse weather conditions, particularly in hilly regions.
