Grand Consecration of Ayodhya’s Ram Temple Set for January 22, 2024

In a historic development, the date for the consecration ceremony of Ayodhya’s Ram Temple has been officially announced as January 22, 2024. Over three years after Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone in August 2020, preparations are underway for an elaborate ceremony that will mark a significant milestone in India’s cultural and religious landscape.

Invitations for the ceremony are being extended to more than 6,000 guests, including priests, donors, and prominent politicians. The consecration ceremony will witness the participation of not only religious leaders and saints from across the country but also top political figures, including Prime Minister Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Before the grand opening ceremony, the Uttar Pradesh government has planned a series of religious events, including the recitation of Akhand Ramayan and Hanuman Chalisa in major temples across the state. These events are scheduled to take place from January 14 to 22, adding a spiritual dimension to the lead-up to the momentous occasion.

The consecration ceremony itself is being meticulously planned, with an outline of religious programs prepared by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust and the state government. The installation of the idol of Lord Ram inside the Ram Mandir is a central highlight of the ceremony, accompanied by various festivities and cultural celebrations.

The journey towards the construction of the Ram Temple began with the landmark verdict by the Supreme Court in 2019, which paved the way for the temple’s construction. Subsequently, the Shri Ram Janma Bhoomi Tirtha Kshetra Trust was established to oversee decisions related to the temple’s construction.

Construction commenced on August 5, 2020, when Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone. The architectural design of the Ram Mandir draws inspiration from the 1988 plan prepared by the Sompura family of Ahmedabad, with adjustments made in 2020 to reflect contemporary considerations.

In a special cultural gesture, Thailand is contributing soil to the Ramjanmabhoomi, following a previous gesture of sending water from two rivers in Thailand to Lord Ram’s temple. This international participation underscores the global significance of the Ayodhya Ram Temple and its resonance across borders.

As the nation eagerly anticipates the consecration ceremony, January 22, 2024, is poised to become a defining moment in India’s cultural and religious heritage.
