Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Punjab Kings (PBKS) wicket keeper has termed his team’s triumph over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as “confidence booster.”
In response to RCB’s 205/2, PBKS produced 208/5 in 19 overs to win by five wickets in Match-3 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, which was contested at the DY Patil Stadium on Sunday.
“We were under the impression that we’d get a free hit. Despite the fact that I had just arrived in the middle, Shikhar encouraged me to be aggressive. I was familiar with Hasaranga’s bowling style. It was about getting to know him and playing with him over the past 4-5 years. I paid for my local expertise, and it paid off. This victory has given me a lot of confidence,” Rajapaksa remarked.
“We’ve watched the movie ’14 Peaks,’ and we’ve got 14 games. It’s a batter’s game in every game. The bowlers deserve credit for keeping them under 200. However, in the middle overs, we surrendered 130 runs in the last 8-9 overs. However, I am confident that the bowlers will devise better strategies in the future,” he further said.
Punjab set a large goal with Faf du Plessis’ 88-run knock off 57 balls and Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 41 off 29 balls, but Mayank Agarwal’s team knocked it down in 19 overs.
On March 30 and April 1, respectively, both RCB and PBKS will face Kolkata Knight Riders in their second IPL 2022 match.
