President Droupadi Murmu and PM Narendra Modi Pay Homage to Mahatma Gandhi on 154th Gandhi Jayanti

India celebrated the 154th Gandhi Jayanti today, and the nation’s top leaders, President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, paid their respects to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat in the national capital.

On this special occasion, Prime Minister Modi also took to social media to highlight the global impact of Mahatma Gandhi’s teachings. He emphasized that Gandhi’s influence extends worldwide, motivating people to embrace unity and compassion. He expressed his reverence on Twitter, saying, “I bow to Mahatma Gandhi on the special occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. His timeless teachings continue to illuminate our path. May we always work towards fulfilling his dreams. May his thoughts enable every youngster to be the agent of change he dreamt of, fostering unity and harmony all over.”

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla joined in paying floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat, emphasizing the enduring significance of his ideals.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also commemorated the occasion at Rajghat, where he emphasized that Mahatma Gandhi is more than just an individual; he is an idea, an ideology, and the moral compass of the nation. Kharge praised Gandhi’s values of truth, non-violence, freedom, equality, and coexistence, describing them as having eternal value.

The official Congress handle on Twitter wrote, “On Gandhi Jayanti, we pay a billion tributes to the Mahatma, whose lifelong dedication to the cause of freedom won India her Independence. In Ranchi, Jharkhand, Governor CP Radhakrishnan, Chief Minister Hemant Soren, and JMM leader Mahua Manjhi also paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, underscoring the universal appeal of his teachings.

Gandhi Jayanti, celebrated on October 2 each year, marks the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. This day also serves as the International Day of Non-Violence, commemorating Gandhi’s commitment to non-violence and tolerance, which remain enduring values.
