Kid Cudi will write, direct, and star in the Netflix film “Teddy”

Kid Cudi, a rapper and actor, is slated to make his feature directorial debut with the Netflix film ‘Teddy,’ in which he will play various roles.

The musician-actor, who is writing, directing, and acting in the next film, informed his followers of the joyful news via a long Instagram post.

Cudi also stated in the article that he has been working on the project since 2013. It was originally intended to be a TV show, but it was eventually turned into a film.

“This year, I’ll be directing and acting in my debut feature film, ‘Teddy’, for Netflix. This is a tale I began writing in 2013 because I had always wanted to write my own film and decided to just do it. It’s been a long trip from being a television show to being a feature film. So it means a lot to me to finally be able to bring it to the screen next year, and I can’t wait for you all to meet Teddy, his friends, and his family, and take a stroll around his world.”

In addition, the rapper revealed that he included his own personal challenges and experiences in the song.

The rapper went on to explain, “If I had to summarise the film in one line, I’d say: It’s like if I took the song “Pursuit of Happiness” and turned it into a film. This video is really important to my heart since I included a lot of my own personal problems and experiences in it.”

He went on to say, “I’m confident that this film will benefit people in the same manner that my music has. My mission is still ongoing. Although this is a comedy, I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t throw in some actual nonsense. It’s weird, it’s funny, it’s sad, and it’s life. Jeymes Samuel, Shawn “Jay Z” Carter, James Lassiter, MAD SOLAR, and BRON are among the film’s producers. Tendo Nagenda and Netflix deserve special thanks for seeing the concept.”

“The new chapter begins…” he added to end the post on an enthusiastic tone.

According to Variety, this is Cudi’s second collaboration with Samuel, Carter, Lassiter, and Nagenda, following his contribution to their Netflix Western ‘Guns Go Bang’ earlier this year.

The African American Film Critics Association (AAFCA) awarded the film’s music and the Broadcast Film Critics Association nominated it for prizes.

It also represents the continuation of Cudi’s association with Netflix, which began with his appearance in filmmaker Adam McKay’s recent film ‘Don’t Look Up.’ Along with the film’s star-studded cast, he was nominated for a SAG Award, and he co-wrote the original song ‘Just Look Up’ for the album with Ariana Grande.

Cudi, who goes by the screen name Scott Mescudi, was recently featured in Ti West’s horror thriller ‘X,’ which premiered at SXSW earlier this month and is currently in theatres.
