Qualcomm joins the list of companies terminating sales to Russian companies

Chipmaker giant, Qualcomm Inc said on Wednesday that in compliance to the sanctions imposed by the United States after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, it has put an end to selling its products to the Russian companies.

The company’s senior vice president of government affairs, Nate Tibbits, tweeted the action the company had taken in a reply to a comment by Mykhailo Fedorov, the Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister.

Mykhailo Fedorov had earlier tweeted and urged Tibbits to stop supplies to Russia, saying that Qualcomm products were still available in Russia and that it was unintentionally enabling Russia to kill thousands of Ukrainians.

Replying to the Vice Prime Minister’s tweet, Tibbits said that the information was incorrect and that Qualcomm has called for a peaceful resolution to Russia’s aggression in Ukraine, had made direct donations to relief organizations and match employee contributions.

“We have stopped selling products to Russian companies and comply with US sanctions,” Nate Tibbits said.

While thanking the move to stop selling Qualcomm products in Russia, Fedorov proposed that if the company wants to help, it can send its satellite phones for Ukrainian rescuers.

In its stockholder meeting held earlier this month, Qualcomm had said that its revenues from Russia and Ukraine accounts for less than 1 percent of its total revenue.
