Fame Game to Aarya, Five Compelling Web Series with Female Protagonists on Women’s Day 2022

The over-the-top (OTT) service proved to be a game-changing narrative medium. The OTT platform has not only become a place for inspiring stories, be it web series or films, but it has also introduced a multitude of female-centric material and stories with strong female characters that have inspired women all over the world. On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2022, here are some powerful web series featuring female characters, you will love to binge watch.

Bombay Begums

Pooja Bhatt, Amruta Subhash, Shahana Goswami, Aadhya Anand, and Plabita Borthakur feature in the film Bombay Begums. The show explores the lives of a variety of ladies from various backgrounds. The official summary for the programme by Netflix says, “From boardrooms to society’s edges, five ambitious women traverse goals, wants, and disappointments in modern Mumbai.”

Aarya

With the web series Aarya, Sushmita Sen made a spectacular comeback as well as her digital debut. After the murder of her drug dealer husband, the actress played a working woman who pursues a career in the underground. Sushmita Sen surprised the audience in the web series’ second season, which was released at the end of last year.

The Fame Game

The film is directed by Madhuri  Dixit and stars Madhuri  Dixit. Since its announcement, the Fame Game has quickly become the buzz of the town. The show chronicles the lavish lifestyle of Bollywood star Anamika Sen, which is shown in a series of dramas as her family members are revealed. The show’s cliffhanger finale has piqued the interest of viewers, who are eagerly anticipating season two.

Delhi Crime

Shefali Shah and Rasika Dugal won hearts with their bold characters in the International Emmy Award-winning programme Delhi Crime. DCP Vartika Chaturvedi was played by Shah, and IPS trainee Neeti Singh was played by Rasika Dugal. Ritchie Mehta developed the drama, which was based on the true events of the Delhi rape case.

ARANYAK

Several Bollywood stars, including Raveena Tandon, have recently made their internet debuts. In Netflix’s 2021 series Aranyak, the actor portrayed Kasturi Dogra, a police officer. The drama followed two cops, Kasturi and Angad, as they solve a murder case that resurrects decades-old legend of a serial murderer.
