Ukraine crisis: Russian forces announce ceasefire in Kiev, Mariupol, Kharkiv, Sumy

The Russian armed forces have announced a ceasefire today, which starts from 10 am (07:00 GMT) in the Ukrainian capital Kiev and Mariupol, Kharkiv and Sumy, so that the residents in the cities can leave the war zone, reported a local media.

The interdepartmental coordination headquarters in Ukraine said in a statement that because of the disastrous humanitarian situation in the cities of Kiev, Kharkiv, Sumy and Mariupol, as well as on the personal request of the French President Emmanuel Macron to the Russian President, the Russian armed forces have announced a ceasefire for humanitarian purposes from 10:00 am, 7th March 2022.

Referencing Sputnik News Agency the statement read that during the ceasefire, Russia will control the evacuation of the resident from the cities of Ukraine aided by drones.

The information regarding the ceasefire has been communicated to the relevant departments of the United Nations, Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe and International Committee of the Red Cross and international organisations through the available information resources.

The statement demanded that the Ukrainian side carries out all the conditions to the letter, so that the humanitarian corridors can be created and an organized process can be followed for the safe withdrawal of civilians and foreign citizens.
