Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh interacted with the Indian diaspora in Nigeria at an event organized by the Indian High Commission in Abuja. The event was attended by the Indian community not only from Abuja but also from other cities in Nigeria like Lagos.
Raksha Mantri spoke about India’s growing importance on the world stage due to its rapidly developing economy and progressive government actions. Community members erupted in joy as the Raksha Mantri highlighted the growing status of the Indian diaspora abroad. He appreciated the positive contribution of the Indian community in Nigeria and expressed confidence that the Indian flag will continue to fly.
Shri Rajnath Singh highlighted the Government’s focus on ‘Aatmanirbharta’ and the significant progress made in defense exports in recent years towards achieving the goal of ‘Make in India, Make for the World’. He also appreciated the capabilities of the armed forces to effectively counter any threat or challenge from the adversaries.
Later, the Raksha Mantri met senior Nigerian dignitaries, including the Chief Justice and the Acting Defense Minister, at a dinner hosted by the Indian High Commissioner.
Shri Rajnath Singh was in Abuja to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the President of Nigeria, Mr. Bola Tinubu. Nigeria is home to more than 50,000 Indians. Indian companies and enterprises are among the largest employers in Nigeria.
