South Korea signed an agreement with Ukraine to provide a $130 million financial aid

South Korea signed an agreement with Ukraine on Wednesday over its plan to provide a $130 million financial aid package, a day after the war-torn country’s visiting first lady asked for military aid.

South Korea’s Finance Ministry said Minister Choo Kyung-ho and Ukraine’s Economy Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, in Seoul to attend the conference, signed an agreement on a package that will consist of aid donations and loans.

South Korea, a major producer of artillery shells, has said it does not provide Ukraine with lethal weapons, citing its relations with Russia.

But Yoon told Reuters in an interview last month that his government need not “just insist on humanitarian or financial support” if civilians in Ukraine come under attack by a major attacker due to “a situation that the international community cannot ignore.”
