Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has invited investors to be part of the Indian economy’s journey at Amrit Kaal, the 25-year journey to its centenary as a modern nation, saying it is full of new opportunities for growth and investment.
The Indian Finance Minister, who is attending the 56th ADB Annual Meeting here, elaborated on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision and reform-oriented approach to good governance to shape the “New India” and redefine its place on a global scale. economic order.
Speaking at the investor roundtable, Sitharaman spoke about recent reforms in India and highlighted initiatives such as the National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP), National Monetization Pipeline, Digital Public Infrastructure and Production Linked Incentive, besides real estate sector reforms and FDI policy.
The minister ”invited investors to be part of the Indian economy’s ‘Amrit Kaal’ journey, which is full of huge new opportunities for growth and investment,” India’s finance ministry said.
During the meeting with investors, she mentioned that India has emerged as a beacon of hope, facing the tailwinds of the pandemic and the headwinds of geopolitical conflicts to become the fifth largest economy in the world, she added.
The Minister also appreciated investors in South Korea for showing continued confidence in India and showing willingness and commitment to participate in the Production Linked Incentive program, especially for the mobile phone and electronic components sector.
Meanwhile, Sitharaman met Biman Chand Prasad, Deputy Prime Minister of Fiji, on the sidelines of the ADB’s 56th Annual Meeting.
She acknowledged the Fijian government’s unreserved support for the successful conduct of the 12th World Hindi Conference held in Nadi, Fiji in February this year.
Prasad informed the Indian minister that the Fijian government had designated 15 May Girmit Day 144 years since the arrival of Indian laborers in Fiji on 14 May 1879 as a new national holiday in Fiji.
The two leaders discussed the upcoming 3rd Forum for Indo-Pacific Cooperation (FIPIC) summit in Papua New Guinea. Prime Minister Modi will chair the summit along with co-host and Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape.
