An Air India special flight is returning from mid-air as the Ukrainian airspace has been closed. As war has started between Russia and Ukraine, the flight received a ‘Notice To Airmen’ (NOTAM) which forced them to turn back.
Air India informed that the empty flight of Air India AI-1947 is returning from over Iranian Air Space as the Ukrainian government has imposed restrictions on the civilian aircraft.
An official of the Ukraine International Airlines said that a special flight of Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) landed at the Delhi Airport from Kyiv, at 07:45 am today, with 182 Indian citizens, including students.
“Notice To Airmen” or “Notice To Air Missions” (NOTAM) is a notice filed with an aviation authority to alert aircraft pilots of the potential hazards along a flight route or at a location that could affect the flight. NOTAMs are created and transmitted by government agencies and airport operators under the guidelines.
Meanwhile, Air India is scheduled to operate a second special flight to bring back the rest of the trapped Indian citizens in Ukraine.
