Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknáth Shinde on Friday termed the Election Commission’s decision to recognize his faction as the real Shiv Sena as a victory for the truth and ideology of party founder Balasaheb Thackeray.
Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the decision established that Shinde was a Sena leader. Shinde says”I thank the electoral commission. In a democracy, majority counts, this is a victory for Balasaheb’s legacy. Ours is the real Shiv Sena”.
Shinde said “Last year, we formed the government in Maharashtra (with the BJP) keeping in mind Balasaheb’s ideas, this was the victory of truth and people as well as Balasaheb’s blessings”.
Shinde’s revolt against Uddhava Thackeray’s leadership in June 2022 brought down the Thackeray-led Sena-NCP-Congress coalition government. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that it has now been proved that Eknath Shinde was leading the real Shiv Sena. The decision was made based on the numbers, he told reporters.
