After Pathaan grossed ₹57 crore on its opening day in India, the Shah Rukh Khan film once again collected more than ₹50 crore on its fourth day at the theatres, according to early estimates. After earning ₹37.5 crore in India on Friday, the Hindi version of Pathaan saw a jump of nearly 40 percent on Saturday and reportedly minted ₹52 crore at the domestic box office. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film was released on Wednesday, a day before Republic Day 2023, in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
Along with Shah Rukh, Pathaan also stars Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Ashutosh Rana and Dimple Kapadia. The Yash Raj Films-backed actioner also has a special appearance by actor Salman Khan. Pathaan has been breaking records ever since its release. The film crossed the ₹200 crore mark in just four days and took a total net of ₹212 crore at the domestic box office, making it the fastest Hindi film to enter the ₹200 crore club.
According to early estimates in the Box Office India report, the Indian version of Pathaan collected around ₹52 crore nett on Saturday, which means another ₹50 crore plus nett day, which will be Pathaan’s third day of release with only Friday (₹37.5 crore) being left out . Pathaan marks the return of Shah Rukh as a lead actor after Zero (2018).
According to trade analyst Taran Adrash Shah Rukh, “Pathaan is truly rewriting the record books”. On Saturday, he tweeted, “Pathaan has overtaken (Hindi versions) KGF: Chapter 2 and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion…fastest entry into ₹200 crore club…India biz…”
Even before the release of the film, Pathaan was breaking records with its incredible advance bookings. Pre-sale for Pathaan opened on January 20. Due to the growing demand, theater owners in many parts of India have reportedly decided to hold early morning screenings of the film.
Earlier, there were also reports that the morning shows of the film were canceled as there were protests outside theaters in Indore on the opening day of Pathaan. Pathaan was released on January 25 after facing boycott calls and protests against the film’s cast and crew in recent weeks.
Many celebrities like Anushka Sharma, Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar have reacted to the box office collections of Pathaan. Recently, Karan took to Instagram Stories to say that Pathaan’s success stated that “love triumphs over hate forever”. Sharing a post about the film’s record collection, Anushka wrote on Instagram Stories, “Shah Rukh Khan, it was a long wait but only you could do it! Such huge numbers and mega opening, breaking box office records.” Janhvi Kapoor also praised the film and wrote on Instagram Stories, “Thank you for reminding everyone again of the magic and glory of Bollywood, I can’t remember the last time I was so amused, amazed and excited!!”
