Filmmaker Karan Johar is known for his love for high-end international brands. From funky outfits to stylish oversized glasses and even rings, Karan often attracts attention with his fashion statements. Now he’s featured in a hilarious new video in which he falls in love with glasses sold online but fears they’re too cheap for his taste.
The video was shared by Peyush Bansal of Shark Tank India, founder of the eyewear brand. He wrote: “No caption can describe it! So just watch.”
The video opens with Karan sitting outside a cafe wearing a green suit during one of his vacations abroad. He calls Peyush who happens to be sleeping at his home in India at the time. When Peyush picks up the call, Karan immediately expresses his love for the glasses he spotted on his company’s website.
He is happy to see that the price of the glasses is ‘999’ and asks Peyush to confirm that the number is in dollars. Peyush corrects him that they are not dollars but rupees. Karan finds this problematic and says, “I can’t be seen wearing glasses under ₹1000.” He asks Peyush to charge him ₹90,000 for the glasses. He lowers the price to 80,000 to convince him. But Peyush rejects his offer and asks him to buy from some other expensive brand instead and cuts his call.
Sharing the video on Instagram Stories, Peyush wrote, “I’m out of town @karanjohar.” Karan also shared the video on Instagram Stories and wrote, “I tried to reach you Peyush Bansal. Please take my call…”
Fans liked the video and expressed their desire to act as a middleman who could take the extra money. A fan commented, “Mai ban jata hu middleman, acha gift pack karke courier karunga (I can become a middleman, gift wrap the glasses and deliver it to you).” Another suggested, “Aap ₹ 999 me lelo mai baaki delivery charges leke pohchata hu ( You can grab it for ₹ 999 only, I will send it to you after reading my delivery charges).” Filmmaker Guneet Monga titled the video “Dhamaal”. A fan also noticed that Peyush was wearing glasses when he slept and asked, “Aap chashmai pehen ke hi sote ho kya? (more like with glasses)?”
