Germany and Iceland submitted a request to the UN’s top human rights body on Friday to hold a special session on the ongoing protests in Iran later this month, the document said. The request called for the meeting to “address the deteriorating human rights situation in the Islamic Republic of Iran, particularly with regard to women and children,” according to the letter signed by the two countries’ ambassadors.
