Veteran actor Jaya Bachchan said that “physical attraction” is very important to make a relationship last longer. In an interview with her granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda on her What The Hell podcast, Navya Jaya also said that “we couldn’t experiment in our time”. Jaya called the physical aspect “very very important” and said that a relationship cannot survive on “love, fresh air and adjustment”. She also said that she has no problem with Navya Naveli Nanda having a ‘child out of wedlock’.
Jaya said, “People will find it undesirable coming from me, but physical attraction and compatibility are also very important. In our time we couldn’t experiment but today’s generation does and why not? Because that too is responsible for a long – a permanent relationship. If there is no physical relationship, it will not last very long. You cannot last in love, fresh air and adjustment, I feel. It is very important.”
“It’s a shame sometimes, but a lot of the younger ones, of course, we never could, we couldn’t even think about it, but the younger generation even after me, Shweta’s generation, Navya’s is a different ball game, but they would feel guilty.” you are going through that experience and I think it is very bad. That’s fine and then you do things on the sly. If you had a physical relationship and you still feel that my relationship didn’t work out otherwise, you can be nice about it,” added the veteran actor.
Jaya also spoke about her advice for the younger generation. She said: “I look at it very clinically. Because there’s a lack of that emotion, romance today…I think you should marry your best friend. You should have a good friend, you should talk and say: “Maybe I’d like to have a child with you because I like you, I think you’re nice, so we’ll get married because society says so.” I have no problem, if you have a child out of wedlock too, really don’t have a problem.”
Jaya shared her opinion with Navya and also with her daughter Shweta Bachchan. He is Jaya’s elder child with her actor husband Amitabh Bachchan. They married in 1973 and welcomed two children – Shweta (1974) and son-actor Abhishek Bachchan (1976). Jaya will next be seen in Karan Johar’s Rocky aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The film also stars Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi. The film will be released in 2023.
