Foundation stone of 46 National Highway Projects laid by Nitin Gadkari, in Karnataka

Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways inaugurated and laid down the foundation stone of 46 National Highway Projects in Karnataka. An investment to the tune of Rs 19,930 has been cleared for the 46 projects. He said that the government is committed to the progress and prosperity of Karnataka while addressing the gathering in Belgavi. The government has pledged to create avenues of growth across the state with the help of a chain of world-class National Highways, he added.

Gadkari addressed saying that the 238 kilometers National Highway Projects will be built with an investment amount of Rs 3,972 crore and it will further improve the connectivity from Karnataka to Maharashtra and Goa through the road network. He added that the projects will help in bringing down the traffic jams and fuel usage, along with aiding in rapid commute and the connectivity of the region to the port.

Furthermore, 26 National Highways projects with a total length of 925 kilometers were inaugurated and the foundation stone was laid down in Hubbali, located in the Dharwad District of Karnataka. Afterwards, Gadkari addressed saying that the 26 National Highway Projects will be undertaken with an investment of Rs 12,795 Crore and elevate the seamless connectivity between the states along with safe and quicker travel from the villages to the District Headquarters to Bangalore.

The projects will also provide greater connectivity to the heritage sites located in Karnataka, which in turn will act as a booster to the tourism sector and will help in generating employment opportunities for the state, he added.

Later on, 15 National Highway projects worth Rs 3,163 Crore were inaugurated and laid down in Mangaluru. Speaking at the event Gadkari said that the Highways will have life-changing effects on the prosperity of the people of Karnataka. He said that the 15 Projects with a total length of 165 km will boost uninterrupted travel from Karnataka to Goa while guaranteeing the safety of commuters on Ghat roads.
