Three Teachers Arrested for Sexual Assault of 13-Year-Old Student in Tamil Nadu

Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu – Three teachers from a government school in Krishnagiri district have been arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for allegedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl. The crime, which took place inside the school’s restroom on January 2, came to light a month later when the survivor’s parents reported the incident to the headmaster.

Authorities acted swiftly after the complaint, with the district education officer (DEO) and child helpline taking immediate steps against the accused. Krishnagiri Collector C. Dinesh Kumar confirmed that the teachers were suspended and subsequently arrested. A senior police official stated that all three accused have been remanded to 15 days of police custody as the investigation continues.

The case has sparked outrage, raising serious concerns about the safety of students in educational institutions.

In another case that shook Tamil Nadu late last year, 37-year-old Gnanasekaran, a biryani hawker, was arrested for allegedly assaulting a second-year female student at Anna University. The incident occurred on December 23 when the accused trespassed onto the campus and attacked the victim and her male friend.

The survivor filed a complaint at the Kotturpuram all-women police station the next day. The case led to a major political controversy, prompting widespread discussions on campus security.

Both incidents highlight the urgent need for stronger safety measures and stricter enforcement of laws to protect students from such crimes.
