In a disturbing incident, two children, aged around 11 and 6 years, were brutally hacked to death on Tuesday evening in Uttar Pradesh‘s Badaun’s Baba Colony. The perpetrator, identified as Sajid, was later killed in an encounter with the police, according to our reporter.
The heart-wrenching incident occurred while the children were innocently playing on the terrace of a building. Sajid, the accused, reportedly waited for an opportunity before ruthlessly attacking them. The victims, identified as Ayush and Honey, were brothers, as reported by The Indian Express.
Bareilly Inspector-General of Police Rakesh Kumar stated that upon receiving the report, the police promptly responded to the scene. Sajid attempted to flee but was pursued by the police. In the ensuing encounter, he opened fire at the police and was subsequently killed.
Providing further details, Badaun SSP Alok Priyadarshi revealed that Sajid had barged into the house around 7:30 pm and targeted the children on the terrace. Despite efforts by the locals to apprehend him, Sajid managed to escape, only to be confronted by the police later.
The motive behind the heinous crime remains unclear, with authorities indicating that investigations are ongoing. However, reports suggest a possible dispute over money, as the accused had allegedly demanded ₹5,000 from the father of the deceased children.
Following the tragedy, tension gripped the Baba Colony area, leading to protests by enraged locals. In a bid to maintain peace, heavy police security was deployed, with additional measures taken to ensure the situation remained under control.
District Magistrate Manoj Kumar assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted into the incident, while urging the community to remain calm during this challenging time. The bodies of the young victims have been sent for postmortem examination as authorities work to bring justice to those affected by this horrific crime.
