Renowned author and former actress Twinkle Khanna has once again woven magic with her words, this time in a column for The Times of India where she delves into the concept of ageing. In her candid account, Twinkle opens up about the anxiety surrounding turning 50 and addresses the challenges women face due to societal emphasis on appearance.
Twinkle reveals that a routine blood test brought surprising results, indicating a drop in her testosterone levels to zero. Reflecting on her past, she humorously recalls coasting on high testosterone levels, making jests about being “more of a man than most men” in the ’90s. Now, facing an energy slump and fewer jokes, Twinkle embraces the changes that come with age.
The author admits to experiencing an existential crisis about turning 50, particularly considering the societal value placed on women’s appearance. She contrasts this with men, humorously noting that Indian men often start life resembling the back of a dented bus and continue accumulating “a few more dents” without affecting their self-esteem and power.
Taking to Instagram, Twinkle shared an excerpt from her column, engaging with her audience on the relatable theme of ageing. The post comes as Twinkle celebrates her 49th birthday on December 29.
In addition to her insightful columns, Twinkle recently announced her new book, “Welcome to Paradise.” This literary venture follows her completion of a master’s degree in Fiction Writing from Goldsmiths, University of London, last year. Twinkle Khanna continues to captivate readers with her wit, wisdom, and unique perspective on life’s diverse facets.
