Trump Attacks Joe Biden’s Decision to Quit 2024 Race: Calls Him “Barely Understandable”

Washington, D.C. — In a heated response following President Joe Biden‘s first televised address since withdrawing from the 2024 US presidential election, former President Donald Trump launched a scathing critique of Biden’s speech.

Trump, who recently survived an assassination attempt on July 13, did not hold back in his criticism, describing Biden’s address as “barely understandable” and “so bad.”

“Crooked Joe Biden’s Oval Office speech was barely understandable, and sooo bad!” Trump wrote on social media.

In another pointed remark, Trump called both Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, who is now the Democratic presidential nominee, a “great embarrassment to America.”

“Crooked Joe Biden and lying Kamala Harris are a great embarrassment to America – there has never been a time like this,” Trump asserted.

Joe Biden “Passes Torch To Next Generation”

In his 11-minute Oval Office speech, Biden, aged 81, told Americans that he decided to step down from the 2024 race to unite the country, emphasizing the need for younger leadership.

“I have decided the best way forward is to pass the torch to a new generation. That is the best way to unite our nation,” Biden said. “I revere this office. But I love my country more.”

Biden underscored the importance of defending democracy, which he claimed is currently at stake, as a reason for his decision.

He also praised his 59-year-old deputy, Kamala Harris, saying, “She’s experienced. She’s tough. She’s capable.”

Biden’s decision to bow out of the November 5 US election race came on Sunday after facing weeks of pressure from within his Democratic Party. Concerns about his age were exacerbated by a challenging presidential debate performance against Trump.

This move makes Biden the first incumbent US president not to seek reelection since 1968, when Lyndon Johnson withdrew under criticism for his handling of the Vietnam War. Biden joins the ranks of James K. Polk, James Buchanan, Rutherford B. Hayes, Calvin Coolidge, and Harry Truman, all of whom chose not to pursue a second elected term.
