Indian auto industry stalwart and vice-chairman of Toyota Kirloskar Motor Vikram S Kirloskar died on Tuesday, the company said. He was 64. According to initial reports, Kirloskar suffered a massive heart attack. “It is with great sadness that we announce the untimely demise of Mr. Vikram S. Kirloskar, Vice Chairman, Toyota Kirloskar Motor on November 29, 2022. In this time of grief, we request everyone to pray for his soul to rest in peace,” the company tweeted late on Tuesday.
“Our deepest condolences to his family and friends. Last respects can be paid at Hebbal Crematorium, Bengaluru on November 30, 2022 at 1 pm,” the statement said. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, executive chairman of Bengaluru-based biopharmaceutical company Biocon, said: “Devastated by Vikram’s shocking death. He was such a dear friend who will be sorely missed. I share the pain and inconsolable grief of Gitanjali Manasi with the family.”
Congress MP Karti Chidambaram expressed grief and condolences over Kirloskar’s death. “I am deeply saddened by the passing of Toyota Kirloskar Vice Chairman Vikram Kirloskar. I have many fond memories of our relationship. My condolences to his family, friends and colleagues,” said the Lok Sabha member. Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), which sells a range of vehicles, is a joint venture between the Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Company and the Kirloskar Group.
