MoS Textiles underscore the need to reduce dependence on Indian textile machinery abroad

The Union Minister of Textiles and Railways, DarshanaJardosh unveiled the ‘GartexTexprocess India’ and noted the launch of India’s leading textile and clothing production exhibition in Mumbai, today. In an interview with the media, MoS Textiles spoke about the role played by Textile Industry in the country. “The clothing industry contributes 10% of production, 2% of India’s GDP and 15% of foreign exchange earnings,” he said.

The Minister also spoke about the positive impact of the recent cabinet memorandum on the part of the PLI Scheme for Man Made Fabric (MMF) and the Fabric Technology in the amount of Rs. 10,683 Crore. “67 players came forward and 61 have already received permits,” he said.Smt. Jardosh also spoke of the need for the Indian textile industry, which relies heavily on cotton to pay attention to the global market where man-made fiber (MMF) accounts for 75%. He also appreciated the interest shown by the denim textile industry and noted that a new generation would be attracted to this.

The Minister emphasized that the development of textile machinery is a matter of hour. He spoke about how the establishment of textile machinery could add value to many especially women who play a major role in the industry. She also emphasized the need to empower women by equipping them with the necessary skills to meet the growing needs of ready-made garments, especially those made of denim fabric in the future.

He encouraged industry and scientists to come up with their own ideas and engage in research that could bring about a solution.The Minister also thanked the organizers of the expanded exhibition from Delhi to Mumbai and for creating a world-class exhibition in India that brings the fabric to fashion in one place. “The exhibition ensures that it creates the need for a national textile collection. It will provide an opportunity for local producers to identify the right technologies and thus help the growth of Indian textiles, ”he said.

More than 100 products were featured in the launch program with specially selected segments – Fabric & Cut, Denim Show and Screen Print India showcasing fashion shows. More than 25 Indian denim mills also display their collections at the exhibition. The Minister also visited the trade fair.

The media interview was followed by a discussion of the CXO executive council with various industry leaders.The forum aims to restructure the Indian textile industry to exchange technologies and solutions to reduce dependence on Indian textile machinery in other countries.
