Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has emphasized the importance of including Rinku Singh in India’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, describing his selection as a straightforward decision.
With the BCCI set to announce India’s 15-man squad later this month for the T20 World Cup, Manjrekar believes that Singh’s consistent performances warrant his inclusion in the probables.
“Because he’s not getting many opportunities, I hope selectors won’t forget about Rinku Singh. He’s a straight walk-in into the Indian team. Every time he has got the opportunity, you’ve seen how good he can be, in the sense of his consistency and the range that he has,” Manjrekar expressed to Firstpost.
Singh, who made his T20I debut against Ireland in 2023, has impressed with his batting prowess, amassing 356 runs in 15 T20Is at a staggering strike rate of 176.23. His ability to finish games with aplomb has caught the attention of cricket pundits and fans alike.
Even in the ongoing IPL season, Singh has been a valuable asset for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), providing crucial contributions in the death overs with his batting prowess.
As discussions around India’s T20 World Cup squad intensify, Singh’s name has been floated among the probable players. Alongside established stars like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah, Singh’s inclusion could add depth and versatility to the squad.
