In a chilling incident that unfolded in full public view, a 19-year-old woman was repeatedly stabbed by a 20-year-old man at the Kirbi Place bus stop in southwest Delhi on Sunday night. The man, identified as Amit, later injured himself with the same knife, leaving both the accused and the victim severely wounded.
The Delhi Police received a distress call around 9:30 pm from a passerby who witnessed the shocking scene. Upon reaching the spot, police found the woman with serious stab injuries on her neck and left side of the abdomen. A bloodied knife was recovered from the scene. The accused was also found injured.
Both individuals were rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
According to a senior police officer, preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and the accused had known each other for over a year. They were reportedly friends but had a fallout over a personal dispute. The motive behind the attack appears to be linked to this disagreement.
A case has been registered under Section 109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Delhi Cantt Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
Adding to the horror, a 45-second video of the aftermath of the incident has surfaced on social media. The disturbing clip shows both the man and the woman sitting on a road divider, covered in blood, as a crowd gathers around them.
The video has sparked outrage and raised concerns over the safety of women in public spaces and the urgent need for conflict resolution mechanisms among youth.
Authorities have urged people to refrain from circulating the video and have appealed for calm while the investigation continues.
