The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, and the Prime Minister of Nepal Rt. The Honorable Sher BahadurDeuba, has organized a shilanyaas event for the construction of India International Center for Buddhist Culture and Heritage in the Lumbini Monastic Zone, Lumbini, Nepal.
The center will be built by the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC), New Delhi, in an area allocated to IBC by the Lumbini Development Trust (LDT), under an agreement between IBC and LDT signed in March 2022.
 After the shilanyaas ceremony, performed by monks of the three major Buddhist monks, Theravada, Mahayana and Vajrayana, the two Prime Ministers re-introduced the model of the Center. Once completed, the Center will be a world-class destination for travelers and visitors from all over the world to enjoy the essence of Buddhist spirituality. It will be a modern, NetZero compliant building in terms of energy management, water and waste disposal, and will have prayer halls, meditation centers, a library, an exhibition hall, a restaurant, offices and other facilities.
