Rs 254 crore has been earned through the disposal of scrap in Special Swachhta 2.0 campaign

Over Rs 254 crore has been earned so far through the disposal of scrap, including scrap disposal, in the short span of three weeks of the ongoing Special Swachhta 2.0 campaign, while 37.19 million square feet of space previously occupied by junk and scrap has been freed. This was stated here today by the Union Minister for Science and Technology (Independent Charge); Minister of State (Independent Representative) for Earth Sciences; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh during a media interaction at his residence where updates were presented on the status and progress of the special Swachhta 2.0 campaign which was launched on October 2 and will conclude on 31.st October.

Dr Jitendra Singh said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Swachhta campaign is also a testament to the “whole government” and “whole nation” approach, which eventually took the form of a nationwide “Jan Andolan”. The minister also informed that 40 lac files were reviewed, 3,05,268 public complaints were disposed of, 5,416 recommendations of MPs were answered and 588 rules were relaxed during the said timeline.

Secretary, I&B Shri Apurva Chandra, Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Shri V. Srinivas, Secretary, DARE, Dr Himanshu Pathak, Secretary, Posts, Shri Vineet Pandey, Principal DG, PIB, Shri Satyendra Prakash, CEO, Prasar Bharati, Shri Mayank Aggarwal also shared their thoughts on the occasion.

Dr. Jitendra Singh said that huge enthusiasm for institutionalizing Swachhata and Dependency Minimization was seen in the Ministries/Department. He urged officials to take inspiration from the Prime Minister’s words in his tweet that “such efforts are not only innovative and commendable, but above all, they remind us of our basic civic duty to keep our surroundings and public places clean.”

The special 2.0 campaign was implemented in remote offices, foreign missions and posts, attached and subordinate offices, in addition to citizen-centric swachhata initiatives. The campaign was holistic in size and scope, witnessing widespread participation of thousands of officials and citizens who came together to create a movement for Swachhata in government offices.

Cabinet Ministers, Ministers of State and Secretaries to the Government of India participated in a special 2.0 campaign to provide leadership and guidance in the implementation. In 3 weeks, the Ministry of Posts conducted a cleanliness campaign at 17,767 post offices, the Ministry of Railways conducted at 7,028 railway stations, the Ministry of Medicine at 5,974 campaign sites, the Ministry of Defense at 4,578 campaign sites and the Ministry of Home Affairs at 4,896 campaign sites.

The progress of the special campaign 2.0 is monitored daily on the dedicated portal www.pgportal.gov.in/scdpm22. Nodal officers have been appointed in all the Ministries/Departments to monitor the work done by the field offices. Special Campaign 2.0 is revised every week by Secretaries to Government of India. The progress of Special Campaign 2.0 has been widely reported on social media with over 10,000 tweets on social media from Ministries/Departments.

In the 3 weeks of Special Campaign 2.0 from October 2nd to October 25th, 2022, the following progress was made:

(a) Swachhata Campaign Sites – 68363

(c) Public Grievances + Appeals Resolved -3,20,152

 (d) Revenue Earned (Rs. Cr ) – Rs 254.21 cr

(e) Space Freed (lac sq feet) -37.19 lac sq feet

(f) MP’s Reference – 5416

(g) Simplification of Rules/Processes – 588
