As Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty commemorate their 14th wedding anniversary, a throwback to a 2015 interview with Shilpa sheds light on the inception of their romance. Raj, a fan of Shilpa’s stint on Big Brother, initially admired her performance as an Indian, and their connection quickly evolved from pride to profound love, eventually taking a “different kind of love, which then blossomed and became obviously, lustful,” as Shilpa candidly shared.
In a playful exchange during the interview, Shilpa recounted Raj proposing and humorously admitting that she asked him to lose weight. She cheekily remarked, “But, I also had to lust him na? Sorry, I am sounding very shallow right now.” Shilpa further disclosed that they decided to tie the knot due to her parents’ disapproval of living together, coupled with their exorbitant phone bills resulting from lengthy conversations. “And, our phone bills were really high. We could have bought a house with that amount; we used to talk so much,” she added.
Raj and Shilpa, parents to Viaan and Samisha, have weathered life’s ups and downs together for over a decade. The couple faced challenges during Raj’s involvement in a legal case related to a porn racket, with Shilpa standing steadfastly by his side. In Raj’s debut film, “UT 69,” he revealed how Shilpa supported him during his jail sentence, emphasizing their enduring bond. The film, directed by Shahnawaz Ali, artfully delves into Raj’s jail experience without taking sides in the ongoing case.
