PMMY created a net additional 1.12 million additional jobs between 2015 and 2018

According to data uploaded by Member Lending Institutions (MLIs) to the Mudra portal, as of 27/01/2023, more than 38.58 million loans have been granted since the program was launched in April 2015. Of these, more than 26.35 million loans have been granted to Women Entrepreneurs (68 %) and 19.84 crore loans for SC/ST/OBC category (51%). This was stated by Union Minister of State for Finance Dr Bhagwat Kisanrao Karad in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today.

The Minister further stated that the Ministry of Labor and Employment (MoLE) has conducted a large-scale sample survey nationwide to assess employment generation under the PMMY. According to the survey results, PMMY has helped in the country over a period of about 3 years. Details of loans disbursed under the scheme by district and state/UT are given in ANNEXURE I.
