Bengaluru: DK Shivakumar, Congress Karnataka unit president, described the BJP governments’ plan to free Hindu Temples from state control as a historic blunder. He asserted that the temples that are currently owned by the government were the state’s wealth.
He questioned how the government temples can be handed over to the local people for administration. He stated that the Muzrai (department) are the wealth of the government and crores of rupees are collected in these temples.
The Karnataka government is aiming to bring in a new law to free the Hindu temples said CM Basavaraj Bommai while addressing the state BJP executive meeting.
This is viewed as another big move by the Bommai government after it got the controversial Karnataka Protection of Right to Freedom of Religion Bill, 2021, passed in the legislative assembly.
