India has once again strongly rebuked Pakistan at the United Nations, rejecting its repeated references to Jammu and Kashmir as “unwarranted” and reaffirming that the region was, is, and will always remain an integral part of India.
Speaking at a UN debate, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, accused Pakistan of diverting attention from critical global discussions by pushing a parochial and divisive agenda. He asserted that Pakistan’s claims hold no legitimacy and do not justify its state-sponsored cross-border terrorism.
“India is compelled to note that the delegate of Pakistan has yet again resorted to unwarranted remarks on the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir,” Harish stated. “Such repeated references neither validate their illegal claims nor justify their state-sponsored cross-border terrorism.”
Taking a firm stance, Harish also pointed out that Pakistan continues to illegally occupy parts of Jammu and Kashmir and must vacate the territory. He further advised Islamabad to refrain from using global platforms for political propaganda, emphasizing that India would not engage in a prolonged exchange on the matter.
Beyond addressing Pakistan’s remarks, Harish also focused on India’s role in UN peacekeeping, highlighting the need for troop- and police-contributing countries to play a central role in shaping peacekeeping mandates. He stressed the importance of ensuring adequate funding to support operational requirements, reinforcing India’s commitment to global peace and security.
